Himachal Pradesh literally means ‘Land Covered in Snow’. This North Indian state nestled in the Himalayas is basically divided into two halves with Shimla, the capital in the centre. The area above it is mountainous; while the area below it is plains. The state is also home to the exiled Tibetan Government that operates out of Dharamshala, a beautiful town also called the winter capital of the state. The spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhists, His Holiness The Dalai Lama; also lives here. Himachal Pradesh was created after bifurcation of Punjab.

The state is especially famous for its apples. It is credited to Satyanand Stokes who was born Samuel Stokes in the USA for introducing the apples in the state. The apples of Himachal Pradesh are well-known for their taste. The apples are a must buy for every tourists visiting the state, and the most important horticulture export item of the state. Himachal Pradesh is also famous for its tea gardens, spread around the slopes of Shimla. Apart from Shimla and Dharamshala, other places worth visiting are Lahaul-Spiti valley, Mandi, Kullu, Manali, Dalhosie, Chail, Kufri, Mcleodganj, Manikaran, Solan and more.   1. Day 1 Start in Pathankot and Head to Dharamshala

    The trip starts with early morning arrival at Pathankot airport or railway station. After refreshment the trip heads straight to Dharamshala by bus to 87 kms away. On the way you admire nature’s beauty in its pristine form. After reaching destination, check in at hotel and unwind. After lunch, in late afternoon visit Namgyal monastery Dal lake and Tsuglagkhang complex, home of The Dalai Lama. In evening explore local market and try dinner at Tibetan restaurant. Comeback and retire for the day.

  2. Day 2 Mcloedganj Detour

    Get up early and after a healthy local breakfast, head out to Mcleodganj also called upper dharamshala; around 6 kms away through the narrow winding hilly roads. Explore the local market and shop for variety of Tibetan handicrafts, art and paintings. Follow it up with visit to the beautiful Bhagsu Waterfall and Kalchakra temple. After lunch visit the Kangra Fort nearly 20 kms away. Comeback to unwind at hotel and retire for the day after dinner.

  3. Day 3 Palanpur Detour

    Get up early and after sumptuous local breakfast, take a bus ride to Palampur around 35 kms away; the tea hub of Himachal Pradesh. A quite peaceful and beautiful place that allows any newly married couple enough time and space to understand each other. After visiting Jakhani temple, taste the special flavour of Kangra tea. After lunch just take a stroll in the area and admire the nature in Palampur like hills and tea gardens. In evening comeback to hotel and retire for the day after dinner.

  4. Day 4 Pack up!!! Time to Go Home

    Get up very early and pack all your belongings completely. Before checking out of the hotel, visit Gyuto monastery and Kareri lake. Based on timing of flight or train to your hometown from Pathankot, head home with memories of this trip clicked in a smartphone or camera.
