Himachal Pradesh literally means ‘Land Covered in Snow’. This North Indian state nestled in the Himalayas is basically divided into two halves with Shimla, the capital in the centre. The area above it is mountainous; while the area below it is plains. The state is also home to the exiled Tibetan Government that operates out of Dharamshala, a beautiful town also called the winter capital of the state. The spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhists, His Holiness The Dalai Lama; also lives here. Himachal Pradesh was created after bifurcation of Punjab.

The state is especially famous for its apples. It is credited to Satyanand Stokes who was born Samuel Stokes in the USA for introducing the apples in the state. The apples of Himachal Pradesh are well-known for their taste. The apples are a must buy for every tourists visiting the state, and the most important horticulture export item of the state. Himachal Pradesh is also famous for its tea gardens, spread around the slopes of Shimla.   1. Day 1 Start in Pathankot and Head to Dharamshala

    The trip starts with early morning arrival at Pathankot airport or railway station. After refreshment the trip heads straight to Dharamshala by bus to 87 kms away. On the way you admire nature’s beauty in pristine form. After reaching, check in at hotel and unwind. After lunch, in late afternoon visit Namgyal monastery, Dal lake and Tsuglagkhang Dalai Lama temple complex. In evening do some souvenir hunting in local market and try dinner at Tibetan restaurant. Comeback and retire for day.

  2. Day 2 Mcleodganj Sightseeing

    Get up early and after breakfast, go out on a sight seeing tour of Mcleodganj, also called Upper Dharamshala. Visit Indru Nag Temple, Tsechokling Gompa. Tushita Meditation Centre, Naddi View Point, Nechung Monastery, and Kalachakra Temple. Admire the buddha statures and Tibetan paintings in these places. In the evening try dinner at a Tibetan restaurant and retire for the day.

  3. Day 3 Travel to Dalhousie

    After an early morning breakfast, move to Dalhousie nearly 117 kms away. After checking into hotel, unwind after lunch. In late afternoon visit Subhash Chowk for magnificent view of Chamba valley and snow-capped peaks of Dhauladhar range. In the evening visit Dainkund peak. Subhash boali, Ganji Pahari, Panchpula, and Chamera lake. Comeback to hotel and retire for the day after dinner. 

  4. Day 4 Khajjiar and Chamba Valley Detour

    Rise early for an enthralling day of sightseeing in Khajjiar and Chamba velley. Post a heaty breakfast head to Khajjiar, nearly 22 kms away. Khajjiar is known for its forest, lakes, meadows and a magnificent golf course. Visit Kajjiar ground and lake, Khajji Nag temple and admire the pristine beauty of nature. After lunch visit Chamba valley, 23 kms away. Visit Laxmi Narayan Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, Manimahesh Lake, and Bhuri Singh Museum. In evening comeback to Dalhousie and have dinner en-route before retiring for the day.

  5. Day 5 Pack up!!! Time to Go Home

    Get up very early and pack up to leave for Pathankot. Before checking out of the hotel, if time permits visit Kangra art museum. After lunch leave based on timing of flight or train to your hometown from Pathankot, head home with memories of this trip clicked in a smartphone or camera.
