The ski season in Gulmarg stretches from January to March and might extend to mid-April if the snow conditions are good and stable. Gulmarg Ski Resort does not have snowmaking operations so snow may melt any time. As such skiing in Gulmarg depends on snowfall. However, the best option is to go on a February skiing trip. If you are of adventure junkie and want to go on a skiing trip, you need to hire equipment on your own cost.
The best time of visiting Kashmir is in summer season from April until August and once again in winter season from October to February, if you want to experience the snowfall and can handle cold temperature.
On visit to Kashmir it is must to carry heavy woollens, sweaters and scarves especially if travelling during winter. Durable shoes are a must if you want to indulge in adventure activities. Better carry Umbrella, if travelling during summer or rainy season. Also must are basic medicine for emergency.
