Himachal Pradesh literally means ‘Land Covered in Snow’. This North Indian state nestled in the Himalayas is basically divided into two halves with Shimla, the capital in the centre. The area above it is mountainous; while the area below it is plains. The state is also home to the exiled Tibetan Government that operates out of Dharamshala, a beautiful town also called the winter capital of the state. The spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhists, His Holiness The Dalai Lama; also lives here. Himachal Pradesh was created after bifurcation of Punjab.

The state is especially famous for its apples. It is credited to Satyanand Stokes who was born Samuel Stokes in the USA for introducing the apples in the state. The apples of Himachal Pradesh are well-known for their taste. The apples are a must buy for every tourists visiting the state, and the most important horticulture export item of the state. Himachal Pradesh is also famous for its tea gardens, spread around the slopes of Shimla. Apart from Shimla and Dharamshala, other places worth visiting are Lahaul-Spiti valley, Mandi, Kullu, Manali, Dalhosie, Chail, Kufri, Mcleodganj, Manikaran, Solan and more.   1. Day 1 Start in Delhi and Head to Shimla

    The trip starts with early evening arrival at Delhi airport or railway station. After refreshment the trip heads straight to Shimla for an overnight by bus 346 kms away. Arrive in Shimla early in the morning and check into hotel have a scrumptious breakfast, freshen up and unwind. In the evening go on a walk on the beautiful Mall Road or do some window shopping at the numerous shops. You can also visit Scandal Point, explore tunnels, Kali Bari Temple, Christ Church, and Sankat Mochan Temple. Have dinner at the restaurants selling Indian, Chinese and international cuisine; comeback to hotel and retire for the day.

  2. Day 2 Shimla Sightseeing Tour

    Get up early and after breakfast, get ready for the full day Shimla sightseeing tour. Start your Shimla and its surroundings tour with visit to Jutogh, Summer Hill, Tara Devi Temple, Junga, Anand Vilas, Himachal State Museum, Shimla Heritage Museum, and Annandale. After lunch, visit Himalayan Bird Park and Shimla State Museum, Viceregal Lodge, Johnnie’s Wax Museum, Chadwick waterfall, and Tattapani hot springs. In the evening retire for the day after dinner.

  3. Day 3 Tour De Kufri

    Get up early and after a hearty local breakfast take a trip to Kufri, the skiing capital of the state nearly 17 kms away. On the way admire the mountains, and deep gorges. Make a stopover to visit Jakhu Hill Temple and peak. If you are visiting in winter and love skiing head straight to ski slopes, otherwise just enjoy the picturesque hilly surroundings. You can also visit the kufri zoo and Himalayan nature park and watch rare birds and animals in their natural surroundings. In the evening, comeback to hotel and retire for the day after dinner.

  4. Day 4 Head Towards Chail

    Get up  early and head towards Chail hill station that overlooks Shimla, 55 kms away in a taxi. Home to the worlds’ highest cricket ground built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh, Raja of Patiala. It was developed by the king, after he was banished from Shimla for eloping with Viceroy’s daughter. Visit the Chail palace, gurudwara, kali ka tibba, chail sanctuary. Return too hotel and retire for the day after dinner.

  5. Day 5 Pack up!!! Time to Go Home

    Rise early and pack up completely before checking out of the hotel, based on timing of flight or train to your hometown from Delhi. Head home with memories of this trip clicked in a smartphone or camera.
